The XF1’s sensor uses EXR technology to configure the image sensor to the shooting conditions. EXR AUTO uses three switchable sensor modes and combines sensor optimisation with Advanced Scene Recognition to create 103 possible shooting modes. Advanced Scene Recognition uses many technologies including motion detection, HDR technology and multi exposure images. Extra Bright 4x Fujinon Zoom LensThe 4x zoom lens on the XF 1 covers the equivalent of 25 100mm on a 35mm camera. Again the XF1 is that little bit different in that you can manually adjust the zoom control for totally precise focal length adjustment. The f1.8 maximum aperture gives far more scope for action and low light photography as well as giving a pleasing appearance to defocused backgrounds. A 6 blade diaphragm extends this background softness to smaller aperture settings too. For close ups there is a 3cm macro mode as well.For ultimate quality the lens uses 4 aspherical and 3 ED Extra Low Dispersion elements for ultimate clarity and portability. Electron Beam Coating is included and the XF1 is Fujifilm’s first compact digital camera to feature High Transmittance EBC coating on both sides of its lenses – which are all glass.Optical Image StabilisationThe image stabiliser on the XF1 shifts one group of 4 elements only and so avoids edge distortion while providing substantial steadying power.Full HD MoviesThe Full HD movie mode includes Movie Scene Recognition which has Face Tracking AF technology so people stay in focus and correctly exposed. There is one touch movie recording and the ability to shoot stills during movie recording.Fast OperationFrom the “off” position it only takes 0.55 seconds to start up the camera and focusing can be as fast as 0.16 seconds using Contrast AF. Using the powerful EXR processor there is only an 0.8 second shooting interval between photos so you won’t miss that crucial shot. For action shooters there is a continuous shooting mode with a frame rate of up to 10fps. This couples nicely with the ISO 12,800 maximum sensitivity and Advanced Anti Blur technology.Large Display with Pro FeaturesThe large 3.0” LCD monitor has 460k dot resolution and has Monitor Sunlight Mode which gives extra brightness. The outer panel is made from tempered glass with a tough scratch resistant finish.
