The Pentax Q10 improves on the smallest range of Compact System Cameras available as of August 2012. The Q10 builds on the advanced features of its predecessor the Pentax Q and adds a higher sensitivity CMOS, faster operation and an improved grip as some examples. However most of the favourite features have been retained such as the unique bokeh control.12MP Back Illuminated CMOS Sensor and Fast AFThis highly efficient image sensor produces higher quality images and allows for faster focusing used in combination with an improved algorithm. ISO sensitivity can be set up to ISO 6400 and AF also now includes an Assist Light for dim conditions and performs much better in low light and with longer lenses. Face Recognition AF is also included for up to 12 faces so your subject will always be sharp.Shake Reduction The Shake Reduction image stabiliser is a CMOS shift design. This means that the image sensor itself moves to correct camera shake. The benefit of this is that you don’t need costly stabilised lenses as it’s all in the camera.Custom Image FunctionThere are 9 modes to choose from for artistic or creative effects such as Bleach Bypass for example which gives a down to earth movie like quality. The Q10 also has a selection of Digital Filters – 19 in all including 11 for shooting such as Toy Camera, Invert Colour and Posterisation and 8 for playback. Filters can be used in combination for even more tailored effects.Smart Effect using Quick DialYou can assign up to 4 Smart Effects from the 9 available effects like Brilliant Colour or Cross Process, onto the Quick Dial on the camera’s front panel, then preview the effect on the LCD monitor. You can also use this dial to assign custom images, digital filters or aspect ratios.Auto Picture Mode and Scene ModesAuto Picture Mode looks after everything including focus, exposure, white balance, saturation, contrast and sharpness. In addition there are 21 user selectable scene modes for extra creative control.
