While it worked it was very useful and certainly a lot easier that models with a cord. The hand grip is comfortable and while the reach is not massive I've been able to cut a tall hedge with no problems. The power is adequate for moderate sized branches but do not expect it to tackle anything thicker than 7mm, you will need to have your old shears to hand. Safety seems excellent although this is a dangerous device by it's nature, but release either trigger and it stops instantly. However ten months after purchasing the cutter and after storing the device in a garage attached to the house over winter I found the battery life had reduced to 10 minutes, then 5 minutes, and now it will not charge. Bosch tell me that I need to pay them 12 Euros to investigate the problem as the battery only has a warranty of 6 months and to replace it will cost a further 60 Euros plus taxes. Factoring this into the cost it makes no sense to use a battery operated cutter as even if you expect three years life from the battery it still costs far less to rent one. |
