Successor to the popular and well received K 5, the Pentax K 5 II is their flagship digital SLR. With its newly developed AF module for ultra fast focus, its tough construction and stunning image quality, the K 5 II continues and substantially builds on the success of its predecessor.SAFOX Autofocus ModuleThe Newly developed SAFOX X AF module allows the AF function to work over a broader EV range 3EV to 18EV and so will easily focus in much dimmer conditions. It is also designed to give far greater accuracy when working with very fast aperture lenses. The upgrade is completed by a new AF algorithm which makes decisions at lightning speed.Extra Sensitive CMOS Sensor with Shake ReductionThe 16.3 megapixel stabilised CMOS sensor is very capable in low light and in combination with the image processing engine provides an extended ISO range of an incredible 80 – 51,200 drawn from the standard range of ISO 100 – 12,800. For very low light there are even user set Noise Reduction functions including a slow shutter version.The K 5 II features Pentax original CMOS shift Shake Reduction which gives about 3 stops of compensation. Because it is sensor based, it works with just about any Pentax SLR lens from their current and vast range of past lens models. The stabiliser moves in all directions so it also features Auto Level Compensation, and compositional fine adjustment and even an Astrotracer function when used with an optional GPS receiver. The high speed data readout and PRIME Pentax Real Image Engine II give very fast image writing times. In fact you can shoot at a frame rate of up to 7fps for up to 30 images in JPEG format.Tough ConstructionThe K 5 II has a magnesium alloy outer body and stainless steel chassis construction for superb durability and is also weatherproof – with 77 independent seals. Also dustproof and coldproof to 10°C.Bright, Anti Reflection DisplayThe large 3” Live View LCD screen has 921,000 dot resolution, is anti glare coated, uses Air gap Free technology and has internal anti reflection resin in its construction. The front panel is made from tempered glass and is resistant to scratches.Bright ViewfinderThe optical pentaprism viewfinder features very nearly a 100% Field of View and comes supplied with a Pentax Natural Bright Matte III focusing screen for maximum brightness and easy manual focusing.Custom Modes and FiltersThere are many customised setups on offer such as Dynamic Range Expansion for detailed highlights and shadows, along with Custom Image functions such as Bleach Bypass and Cross Process for alternative colour balances as an example.
